History

Gray's Valley is a historic farmstead that's been continuously owned by one family since the early 1800'S. This scenic area features hardwoods, open fields, and streams. James Gray, a Revolutionary War veteran and captain, settled in Tioga County in 1805. Over the next two centuries, the Gray/Strange family maintained the quiet beauty of this valley. The last family member to reside here was a retired Lt. Colonel in the Army Corp of Engineers. A Pearl Harbor survivor and highly decorated veteran, he eventually retired to the valley. There he and his wife enjoyed many quiet years restoring the valley's farmhouse and barn while gardening, hunting, and fishing at his childhood home. This stunning homestead is now coming to market.

The Home

The house's first floor features a large kitchen, formal dining room, a walk though pantry, a living room, and a study. The second floor has four bedrooms and one bathroom with a historic clawfoot tub and a large walk-in closet. You'll find hardwood floors and original woodwork throughout the home. The farmhouse is attached via breezeway entrance to separate living quarters built in 1971. These quarters include one floor living with a kitchen/dining/laundry area, spacious bedroom, bathroom, and an all-year sunporch. The two structures have separate heating with electric baseboards in the new living quarters. You'll also find multiple small structures around the home utilized as garages, storage, and the former spring house.

This property has great potential for hunting deer, bear, waterfowl, turkey, pheasant, and stream access for fishing. The family farm and homestead are great for gardening, maple sugaring, livestock, and berry/orchard harvesting. With close proximity to state parks, lakes, bike/hiking trails, this property is perfect for a family retreat or peaceful country living.
